For many Belleville area residents, living within our downtown is where they are most happy to be. Being able to walk from their doorstep to enjoy views of Belleville Lake at Horizon Park or the DNR boat ramp, playgrounds at Victory Park, The Belleville Area Museum, The Belleville Area District Library, as well as many special events, festivals and downtown businesses. These homes are located on the shores of Belleville Lake, along Liberty Street, Huron River Drive, Potter Drive and High Street. Lakefront sites along Liberty are a combination of single family homes, condos and apartments. Some of the city’s lakefront homes were constructed as early as the late 1800’s and as recent as the mid 2000’s. But the majority were built built between the 1920’s and the 1950’s. They range in architectural style, from modern single story ranches to classic and stately two story colonials, and various things in between. Basements are fairly common. Streets are paved with sidewalks and streetlights.
