Are you looking for sledding hills in and around Belleville?

The first big snowstorm of the season has been dumping upon us all night and all day long.  We already received the !SNOW DAY! call for tomorrow!  Yay!  Time to turn the alarm clock off for the morning and sleep in.  Ha, who am I kidding?  My kids will be up and raring to go at 6AM.  Oh how I’d love to stay in my PJs all day and hibernate, but I know the kids will have other, more exciting, yet colder things in mind for their day.  They will eagerly get bundled in their snow gear and beg to go outside and play at the day’s first light.  While they would be perfectly happy running around the yard making tracks, snow angels, and forts as I enjoy the view from inside, I think I may have other ideas up my sleeve.  Once the sun comes out and the roads have been cleared to safely travel, I might pull out my own snow pants, take them out to one of the local sledding hills and get in on the snowy fun with them.

Sledding is a great memory that I have of my childhood.  My grandmother took me and my cousins to the sledding hill at Willow Metropark often.  She was the type to have quite a collection of toboggans and sleds packed up in her trunk.  Along with hot chocolate, sandwiches, lots of blankets, a change of dry clothing, an abundance of extra hats, mittens, scarves, and a first aid kit.  I will admit, I inherited the same tendencies from her.  So here I sit, making my mental list of all the snow gear and snacks I need to prepare and pondering which hill we shall tackle first this season.  And now I share my available options with you…following are some of the closest designated sledding hills in and around the Belleville area.  Click on the headings to link to the park’s website for more information.
