My husband and I, both grew up spending many springs and summers playing Belleville Little League baseball and softball at these ball diamonds during our childhood. It was a place where many friendships were born, athletic skills were developed and memories were made. Today, we again spend many an evening or Saturday afternoon at these fields watching our own children play ball.
However, it is (thankfully) not the same place visualized in our memories. Within the last few years, Beck fields has seen many wonderful updates including paving of the parking lot and the addition of paved walking paths between the parking lot and fields.
Updates to the concession stand and restrooms.
The addition of a playscape.
New cement block dugouts and other field upgrades.
Beck Fields is located in Van Buren Township on Beck Road between I-94 North Service Drive and Tyler Road. It offers 8 baseball/softball fields plus 1 tee ball field that are utilized by Van Buren Area Little League. This league services children living in or attending Van Buren Public School District. They currently offer teams of T-ball, Machine pitch baseball and softball, Minor Baseball and Softball, Major Baseball and Softball, Juniors and Seniors and a 50/70 division for Boy’s baseball. Spring leagues typically kick off play on Mother’s Day weekend with a parade of teams from Owen Intermediate School to the ball diamonds, an opening ceremony and a day filled with games. Teams play among other teams within the VBALL league as well as teams from Plymouth Canton Little League.
